Light Up Middletown, a fantasy drive-thru display of lights, will open for the season on November 26, Thanksgiving Day, and run through New Year's Eve.
Open every night 6-10 PM, regardless of weather, including holidays, Light Up is considered top quality entertainment at a very affordable price. Admission is by donation, you set the price.
Since it beginning in 1999, Light Up has welcomed over 800,000 visitors to Smith Park, 500 Tytus Avenue, in Downtown Middletown, Ohio (I-75, Exit 32).
Many families from SW Oho and their out-of-town guests now include a trip through the 100-acre park as a holiday tradition. Many engagements and even a wedding or two have happened among the sparkling lights.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand to talk to children 7-9 pm on Friday and Saturday evenings until Christmas. Photos are available at $10 each or 2 of the same pose for $15.
The annual hot air balloon glow is set for Thursday, December 3rd, 2015, 7:15 to 8:00 pm, weather permitting.
Thanks to donations from guests in past years, the display collection has grown significantly. This year the animated custom display set to music on the new in-park radio station has been expanded, the deer herd has grown and even more electrical service has been installed in the park that can accommodate many other events held there. And, this fall, the storage barn has been expanded to allow for storage of the additional displays and those planned for future years.
As guests enter the park, volunteers from area non-profit organizations; MHS Musical Arts, Boy Scout Leaders/Parents, Bulls Run Arboretum, and American Association of University Women, will ask where guests are from and how many people are in the vehicle. They will also distribute a brochure with valuable coupons and ads from area restaurants.
