$3,000 was donated to the City of Middletown for use at Smith Park by Light Up Middletown.

Light Up Middletown makes a donation to the park each year to help maintain and upgrade the facilities for the thousands of people who use the 100-acre park year round. Over 57,000 people visited in 2010 during Light Up from the day after Thanksgiving through New Year’s Eve.

According to Flo Randall, chairperson of the event, “For 12 years, Light Up has made improvements to the park in the form of additional electrical service used by many groups and through the annual donations. Our purpose in holding this event is to draw people to Middletown and to improve the parks.”

2011 Light Up dates are November 25 through December 31 – 37 nights of operation.
