Many people might not know exactly how many people show up for the presidential inauguration. The lines are already long to get tickets. On January 20, 2009 President Barack Obama will be inaugurated as the 44th president of the United States.
If you want tickets to go to this event the lines are long and you will probably be waiting for a long time. The local lawmakers are saying that they are already getting more requests for tickets than they can take. The tickets are only available at the offices of U.S. senators and representatives.
There are a total of 240,000 tickets to be given away. Each house office has been limited to only 198 tickets and most have already gotten rid of them. The senate offices were expecting to get 300-400 tickets each and they have also had many requests. The tickets are free of charge to the public.
The congressional offices will not receive their tickets to the inauguration until the week before and they must be picked up in advance. These tickets are for spaces that are closer to the Capitol. As of right now there is not a requirement of tickets for the parade route on Pennsylvania Avenue.
