Greg Tyus who is the Middletown school board President will be delivering a state of the schools address today December 15, 2008.
The Madison school board will be voting on appointing junior and senior high school Principal Curtis Philpot to be the superintendent through the remainder of the school year. Philpot will be maintaining his principal duties through December 31st.
Philpot was appointed so he could serve through the remainder of the school year. This will also allow the district to conduct a search for a new superintendent to start at the beginning of the next school year.
Along with the superintendent the Madison board will be continuing discussions on preschool funding and the banning of text messaging between students and staff. So far there is no vote planned for these issues.
The Franklin school board will need to be making changes for their school resource officer. The current school resource officer will be returning to regular street patrols and will be unable to go to the school.
The Carlisle school board will be hearing a superintendent’s report on a developing partnership with Sinclair Community College. They are discussing the possibility of providing college classes at the high school.
There will be an informational meeting held on Wednesday December 17, 2008 at 6 p.m. at the high school.

12/5/2009 9:32:29 PM | disciple M. Wilson | I believe that Mr. Tyus has done a superb job as our president. I'm a God believing man who respects change and when Dwight wilson is appointed our first black superintendent he along with our fine school board will put this city on the map.As one of the top school systems in the country. Why because we have the most gifted, and intelligent, athletic, kids in the country. All they need is a strong captain at the helm and that man is Dwight Lamont Wilson. We the citizens of middletown deserve a man of Dwight Wilson's character and expertise. |
