Before demolition takes place at Wilson Elementary School and McKinley Elementary School, the facilities will be home to one last educational session.
During the week of October 11, the Middletown Fire Department will use the abandoned facilities to train the City’s 87 firefighters. Activities will include search and rescue, hose line advancement, forcible entry, as well as other advanced firefighting skills.
Once the training is completed, all remaining items sold in the August auctions, including exterior doors and windows, will be removed. The Fire Department has assured the district that their training activities would not be destructive to any of these items in the building.
Middletown City Schools has developed a schedule for events taking place during the week of October 11:
Monday, October 11: Last day for abatement at both buildings.
Tuesday, October 12: Gas, electricity and water will be terminated at
Wednesday, October 13: Both Wilson and McKinley will be available for fire training.
Thurs-Fri, October 14 & 15: All remaining items sold in auction will be removed from
Sat.-Sun, October 16 & 17: All remaining items sold in auction will be removed from
Monday, October 18: Site and demolition work begin at Creekview, Wilson and McKinley
