The Fenwick Falcons girl’s soccer team finished their season with a 19-4-0 record in order to win the division II state girls soccer champions. They beat Akron Hoban 1-0 on Saturday, November 8th at the Columbus Crew Stadium.
Alexis Heard got the lone goal for the falcons with 8 minutes and 38 seconds left in the game. Heard was a senior this year and was the teams leading scorer. The girls are still in awe of realizing that they won the state title for the first time in their school history for soccer. It was also the girl’s 11th win in order to get to the state title.
Fenwick didn’t start out to great in the first half. They just didn’t have as much intensity and knew they needed to pick it up for the second half. Once they got the goal in the second half the whole game changed and they realized they were close to winning the state title.
Fenwick coach Tom McEwan said he couldn’t be more proud for the girls for how hard they have worked and they deserved it.
