Mark Putnam, president and general manager of Innovative Energy Solutions, presented a proposal to the school board regarding energy savings and preventative maintenance.
Mr. Putnam’s company provides computer-based building automation systems to 250 school buildings in 5 school districts in the area and 75% of his company’s market is serving schools.
He proposed this contract to minimize operating costs in the eight new school buildings in Middletown school district and apply the savings to preventative maintenance. Energy costs for the four new schools already in operation were $524,000 for the past 12 months. This comes to approximately $2.11 per square foot of school building space. He proposes to reduce this cost to $1.80 per square foot.
