From The City Manager
The Reynolds Street Community Gardens are now open for business! A formal ribbon cutting was held last Saturday to kick off the gardens and the growing season. Sixteen garden beds were originally plotted out and fourteen have already been rented for the season. The community garden has the capacity to build seven more plots during this first year of operation. If residents have an interest in renting one of the remaining garden spots, they can contact the garden at 513-424-4991 or email ckash45055@gmail.com.
The ribbon cutting was only the beginning of the community garden story. A young couple living two blocks away from the garden with a little five year old girl won a bed in a drawing on Saturday. The garden provided tomato plants and cucumber plants as part of the winning drawing, which they planted on Saturday. On Sunday the entire family was back to plant flower seeds and let their little girl water their plants. Community is formed by neighborhood families interacting in a positive environment, and the City and the Reynolds Street Community Gardens look forward to creating many new stories and friendships this growing season.
