The Middletown Community Foundation invites the public to join its Board of Trustees and staff at a ribbon cutting and open house on Thursday, Dec. 9, to celebrate its new offices at 300 North Main Street, Suite 300.
The event begins at 4 p.m. with the ribbon cutting scheduled outside at 4:15 p.m. The “come and go” open house will run until 7 p.m. with tours of the facility and hors d’oeuvres offered.
Centered on the theme “You Hold the Key to Success,” the event highlights that the Community Foundation relies upon the support of area donors to continue its impact on the greater Middletown area.
“We want people to see where we do what we do,” explained Executive Director T. Duane Gordon. “We raise money, award grants for the betterment of the community, provide educational scholarships, administer the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and act as a convener to bring stakeholders together to tackle problems facing our community. Literally every life in the Middletown area is touched daily by the results of our work, but most people never see the ‘home base’ where it happens.”
After 11 years in The Manchester Inn, the Community Foundation doubled its office space in late September with a move into the former Frost Brown Todd law firm office space on the second floor above First Financial Bank’s Main Street branch and the United Way of Greater Cincinnati – Middletown Area’s offices. The 10-year-old building is owned by Charles J. Kubicki, LLC, and managed by Cincinnati United Contractors.
“We worked out of boxes and in loaner desks for the first two months, but now that our new furnishings have arrived and been installed, we’re ready to invite the neighbors over!” Gordon added.
The Foundation was created in 1976 as a component of the Middletown United Way, separating into an independent organization in 1986. It was housed in leased space in the then-United Way building until moving to the former Chamber of Commerce offices at The Manchester in 2000.
The Middletown Community Foundation works to improve the lives of those in the greater Middletown area by serving as a permanent source of funding for projects to benefit the community under the slogan “Every community requires a strong foundation.” Over the past 34 years, it has distributed tens of millions of dollars in grants and college scholarships, with $25 million granted out in the past 10 years alone.
