Middletown City Council will be holding a lengthy public hearing this Tuesday concerning the rezoning of 157 acres of residential land to industrial. The new rezoned land will be used for construction of a proposed coke-making and electric generation plant.
The public hearings Tuesday, Aug. 19, on the rezoning of the Bake-Martin parcel and the text amendment on back requirements are expected to draw opposition from a large number of Monroe residents who live adjacent to the land where the plant was originally planned. Also opposing the zoning is the city of Monroe and many Monroe School Officials.
The hearings will be the second time these agenda items have been considered this year.
