Cities Have High Unemployment Rates |

Although Middletown and Hamilton’s jobless rates went down a little bit in October both of the cities now have higher unemployment averages than the state and the country. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services there are 6.4 percent or 12,300 people that were unemployed in Butler County during the month of October.
The county was below the state and national rates of 7.3 percent and 6.5 percent however Middletown and Hamilton were not. Even though both of them were a little lower then the 7.2 percent rate in Hamilton and 8.2 percent rate in Middletown that was reported for September.
Butler County was ranked 62nd out of 88 counties for an unemployment rate of 6.4 percent, Hamilton County was ranked 72nd with a rate of 6.1 percent, and Warren County was ranked 74th with 6 percent.
The lowest in the state was 5 percent and these included Delaware, Geauga, and Mercer counties. Pike County had the highest unemployment rate that was at 10.5 percent.
