Today is the filing deadline for those candidates running for city council. Thus far, for the first ward only Jim Armbruster has filed, but Gary Lee Barge told MiddletownUSA.com late last night that he plans to file this morning.
In the 2nd ward, John Soppanish and Leslie Ford have both filed their petitions and Andrew Smith Jr., who has a campaign office on central Ave, assured me early yesterday that he too would be filing today.
Anthony Marconi and Josh E. Laubach who are running in the 3rd ward filed their petitions early in the month. Fred Sennet confirmed with MiddletownUSA.com several weeks ago that he would not be running for council. No word on if Christopher Atkins or Jeffery Michel plan on making today's 4:00pm deadline.
Daniel Picard and Paul Nagy have filed to run in the 4th ward, which is open due to the fact that after a 16 year career David Schiavone is not going to seek reelection. Gerri Lynn Maples withdrew from the race due to personal issues. Robert Thorougman has yet to file his petition.
