
MIDDLETOWN, OHIO----- Middletown Area Federation of Women’s Clubs Presidents and Delegates meeting last month Ruth Cassidy, president of announced that under her leadership, the Executive Board, past Charity Ball chairs and presidents would serve as co-chairs for the 90th annual Charity Ball. The Ball will be held on Friday, December 3 in the Great Miami Room at The Manchester Inn & Conference Center with the theme “A Cameo Year.”
Cassidy informed the members that the following people will assist in the planning and execution of this year’s dance to include: invitations/dance patronage, Tammi Thompson; business patronage, Janie Palmer; club patronage, Miriam Johnson; hospital delegate, Marilyn Goughneour; table reservations, Midge Bailey Bryant and Shirley Tillman; night of the ball/greeters, Mary Mauer; decorations, Ruth Cassidy; decoration sales, Delores Revelos; invitations design, Janis Nein; program, LaVonne Michael; publicity, Frances Sack; treasurer, Barbara Brown; master of ceremonies, John Lomax, WKRC-TV; entertainment, Rich Monroe and Sounds Unlimited; and photography, Len Kaltman Photography.
Proceeds raised from this year’s event will go toward creating a newly established Middletown Area Federation of Women’s Club endowment that will provide funds for women’s health services that include women’s health screenings, tests and initiatives in the Wilbur and Mary Jean Cohen Women’s Center. These funds would go to assist the uninsured or underinsured women who qualify in the Middletown area. This endowment is being established at Atrium Medical Center, Premier Health Campus-Middletown in honor of the 90th year of this annual occasion.
This will be a dinner-dance starting at 6 pm with cocktails and holiday music provided by Marilyn Ifcic in the main lobby of the hotel; a sit down dinner at 7 pm; program at 8:15 pm, with dancing to follow until midnight. Cost is $50 per person or $100 per couple; contributing as a Grand Patron $150, includes dinner and a listing in the program–both include two admissions to the Ball. College age students may attend evening festivities at the Junior Patron admission of $25. Checks should be sent to: Ms. Tammi Thompson, 110 Old Street, Monroe, OH 45050. The MAFWC donations will exceed the $1 million milestone they have contributed to various projects over the years. The first dance was held on December 27, 1921 at the Elks Temple that was located on Main Street in 1920 and netted $678.95.
