MIDDLETOWN, OHIO----- Middletown Convention and Visitors Bureau (MCVB) will be awarding grants to assist local profit and non-profit organizations presenting events and performances in Middletown. Grants are to be used for marketing and promotion purposes targeted to audiences outside Middletown.
Groups wishing to apply for grants should submit an application by April 15 and NO LATER than 7 pm.
Grants can be submitted by emailing to MCVB@cinci.rr.com, mailing to Middletown Convention & Visitors Bureau, P.O, Box 1245, Middletown, OH 45042 or drop off at BeauVerre Riordan Studio at 1054 Central Avenue. Non-profit agencies that received funds in 2009 will not be considered for a 2010 Grant, if their Economic Impact report has not been received by March 31.
Linda Moorman, president of the MCVB board said, “Our mission is to directly impact the Middletown economy by assisting local groups and businesses that bring new entertainment and hospitality industry dollars into Middletown. Visitors who buy admission tickets to local events, eat in local restaurants, stay in Middletown hotels, shop in retail stores or buy gasoline all add to the Middletown economy. Their purchases support local businesses and organization and taxes on those purchases help state and local governments. Local Butler County hotel and motel bed tax dollars support the services provided by the MCVB.
The MCVB board will make the grant awards once in 2010. This change in awarding grants was changed in 2007. At that time grants were awarded twice during the year. The board made this change when it was determined that it would help area for profit and non-profit groups with their planning of marketing and promotion of their events to know what funds they had available for this purpose. In 2009 area non-profits were awarded $60,000 to support their marketing and promotion purposes targeted to audiences outside Middletown.
