Welcome to the Butler County Treasurer's website.

Real Estate Tax Update: The first half due date is February 28, 2018.  Tax bills are scheduled to be placed in the mail on January 26.

In just under five weeks it will be known if several city-subsidized "downtown" deals remain property tax delinquent or not.  Among these are:

1.  Former Rose Furniture Building;

2.  Former Manchester Inn;

3.  Former Snider/Sonshine Building;

4.  Goetz Tower Building; and

5.  Former CG&E Building (Cincinnati State).

Is it possible that Doug Adkins and City Council could apply a little moral persuasion to the owners of these properties to ensure payment compliance?  After all, they were the ones who handed out tax abatements, $1.00 gifts of former city-owned real estate (vacant land and buildings), direct cash assistance, untold hours of city staff time, etc., etc.  And, what an opportune time this would be for Eddie Richter to write an investigative article on this little problem?

Not going to happen based on past history from the Journal and the way they report information. I don't see any Journal reporter that has objective journalism capabilities. I also don't see the Journal management sponsoring objective journalism. I do see the reporters writing only city supportive articles and rarely, if ever, write about any consequences due to city decisions and activity. Plenty to write about there.

The Journal also does not investigate city building activity when questionable operational activity could be happening.

The Journal, like the city, is a shell of it's former self.
I'm so proud of my hometown and what it has become. Recall 'em all. Let's start over.

It would be nice to have an independent eye on this.
