From the MJ:

Microbrew planned for downtown Middletown
By Ed Richter

Staff Writer
Snider Building LLC has taken possession of the historic Dan E. Snider Ford Dealership Building, also known as the former Sonshine building next to the Manchester Inn, and is working to give Middletown its first microbrewery/brewpub.

“This project will stand on its own, but it’s also a natural complement to the redeveloped Manchester Hotel,” said William Grau, a managing member of both the Snider and Manchester development groups. “The layout is perfectly suited for a microbrewery and it’s a great revamp of an historic structure.”

Plans for the Snider Building include restoring it to its original look. It’s expected the project will be complete by the fall of 2016. The majority of the three-story, 32,376-square-foot building will be utilized for manufacturing beer and include a packaging and canning line. The developers plan to partner with a brewer to produce and self-distribute the beers both locally and regionally.

Approximately 3,000 square feet of the building’s former auto showroom will be used as a taproom/brewpub and is expected to employ 28 full- and part-time workers.

Has the Snider Building been declared historic yet so they can also apply for federal and state historic funding ?

Dayton’s largest microbrewery leases additional space

Nov 11, 2014, 3:30pm EST

Olivia Barrow Senior Reporter-Dayton Business Journal

The largest brewing operation in Dayton has leased more space in order to expand further into new markets.

Warped Wing Brewing Co. announced Tuesday it leased 14,000 square feet in one of the old Heidelberg Distributing Co. buildings at 1226 Schaeffer St. in north Dayton.

Joe Waizmann, president of the company, said the building is ideal for the brewery's distribution operations since it already has forklift accessible coolers, a space for trucks to drive in and tall ceilings.

"It suits our purposes very nicely," Waizmann said.

Warped Wing beers are available all over the Dayton market, and the company has begun working its way into the Cincinnati market, but Waizmann said there's lots of room for expansion there, and he also has his sights on the Columbus market.

"We've established a substantial base in our home market," he said. "We'll take the same approach in new markets that we've initially taken here in Dayton, to approach the who's who of craft first."

The expansion into new markets will lead to hiring in sales, driving and warehouse operations. The additional space on Schaeffer Street will allow for more production space in the original Wyandot Street facility to keep up with demand in new markets.
