Every year about this time thousands of dollars in damages happen at the Middletown Cemetery. Please lock the gates until after Halloween.

4 Arrested On Charges Of Trespassing Through Cemetery

CLARK COUNTY, Ohio -- Police in the Miami Valley are sending a message to stay out of cemeteries as Halloween approaches.

Four men were arrested on suspicion of trespassing Thursday morning at the Black Family Cemetery in Clark County, police said.

Police said the teens believed the cemetery is haunted because of videos and stories posted on the Internet.

Pike Township Trustees gated and locked the cemetery.

The four 18-year-old men face a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespassing, police said.

One of the city council candidates who shall remain nameless had an interesting idea...

They we're quoted as saying: "Lock the gates, and place booby traps around the cemetery. Bear traps or Punji Sticks"

How does one get arrested for "suspicion of trespassing"? Are they saying if you visit a cemetery prepare to show your papers and have a damn good excuse for being there ? I understand locking the gates at night to keep out vandals and I agree with that, but to be arrested in the day light for being there ? And to be charged with what sounds like a trumped up charge ?

Cops and courts are totally out of control.

..the article is written by a reporter. There is no charge of suspicion of trespassing. No such thing. I am sure they were charged with Trespassing but the paper writes it up like. Weeks ago the Journal wrote an article that a man was arrested for alleged soliciting. There is no such charge, only soliciting. I'm sure it's the just the brilliant report writing of a reporter.

AK - What is going on with that?

It should probably read they were "detained for Suspicion of Trespassing", then you determine whether to charge them with trespassing.
