I have no doubt that when Ms. Ford remarked that her comments were directed not to anyone here but to “our friends in cyberspace” she might have thought that it was “cute”. However, it appeared to me that Ms. Ford does not realize how much better “friends” she may have in THIS (MiddletownUSA) cyberspace than she may have in all of City Hall!!!
Ms. Ford, didn’t you hear Ms. Gilleland and Mr. Adkins say that there may be street and allies “OUTSIDE the [current] target area” that could end up being the destination of these funds?? And we have now been assured that these are NOT “additional” funds, but simply an allowance for the same small pool of funds to be used CITY-WIDE, instead of primarily in YOUR Ward 2??
Yes, Ms. Ford, you heard Ms. Gilleland imply that the reason significant funds went unspent in past years was because the streets and allies were OUTSIDE the target area!!! Ms. Ford, you have seen what $250,000 did for North Breiel Blvd. as far as PATCHING goes. One might think that YOU Ms. Ford would’ve pointed out to Ms. Gilleland that there are MANY areas right in YOUR currently targeted Second Ward that could have easily and deservedly used those funds!!! Ms. Ford, if you would’ve taken the time to follow THIS little corner of cyberspace, you would KNOW that THIS WRITER and other of “your friends in THIS cyberspace” have REPEATEDLY called for street repairs and paving using CDBG funds that would have resulted in the POOREST neighborhoods in this city having the BEST STREETS!!! Ms. Ford, those would’ve been neighborhoods in YOUR WARD, not the wards of must of us!!! Ms. Ford, YOU should have JOINED us in that crusade, instead of sitting silently by, while the money was spent on BIKE PATHS and other frivolities!!!
How many of YOUR constituents will actually use the BIKE PATH on a regular basis, Ms. Ford???
Perhaps you could actually learn a bit about diversity from your “cyber friends”. We DO advocate “Equal Opportunity” spending of taxpayers money.
If any of the regulars posters in THIS “ward” of cyberspace took offense at your remark, they are certainly justified.
