The chamber is looking for volunteers to serve on the Middletown Public Schools newly reconstituted Board Curriculum Committee. Below is the stated purpose of the committee and expectations of committee members.
The committee will investigate and make recommendations regarding the skills, knowledge and expertise students should master to achieve success in education, work and life in the 21st century. This committee will examine existing 21st century thinking about education, and then help define a vision for how students should be learning over the next decade. The outcomes will be recommendations for facilities, programs, and processes that will help Middletown graduates be ready for the challenges and expectations they will be facing.
Committee members will be expected to attend monthly meetings, sub group meetings between the larger main meetings, engage in discussion and debate on complex issues, provide a consensus view for all stakeholders, prepare and present reports to the Board of Education.
Interested individuals should respond to this email or otherwise in writing promptly, so that chamber leadership can consider all who are interested and make appointments from the business community to the Board of Education in March.
Thanks for considering this opportunity to make a real difference.
