WHO CARES??? Don't Middletown taxpayers deserve to know the full public cost of "downtown" tax abatements, city-owned building and/or land give-aways, direct financial "gifts" prior to (and during) the start of actual proejct re-development construction, project completion deadlines, city recourse for re-developer delinquent payment of Butler County property taxes, etc., etc.? Provided hereafter are four geographically diverse broadcast and print media thought-provoking links on this oft-discussed topic: Middletown and "Downtown" Tax Abatement Deals Informative Links -- What's Your Take On This Topic? Irony being that most businesses on the receiving end are as capable or better to pay the tax than are those citizens and other like businesses who catch the extra burden
does anyone monitor pre-conditions and compliance? |

SpiderJohn, I agree/empathize with you plus other business owners outside of "downtown"! As for prospective re-developer "vetting" procedures/standards, contents of property conveyance documents/re-developer covenants, compliance monitoring, etc., I have no knowledge of how things are done here. May I suggest that you speak with Vivian Moon as she's obtained some relevant city economic development-related documents of note.

SWOhio75 -
Do you have any comments to offer about the several stalled or incomplete city-subsidized "downtown" community revitalization deals?

My suggestion for you is to try concentrating on how your tax dollars have been/are being spent and determining the value/benefit of the outcomes such as these "downtown" deals. If you're satisfied or pleased with the direction the city is headed, then there's nothing much else for you to think about.

You're spittin' in the wind-do the math. There's about 1700 members on this site. Roughly 100 post on a semi-regular basis. Maybe 10% of that show up to any event concerning city matters. NOBODY CARES ABOUT ANY OF THE CRAP YOU KEEP WHINING ABOUT!!!!!! If they did, things would change. Why can't you get it through your head that the majority are obviously satisfied that the buses are running and the trash is picked up. All the facts and figures in the world won't make people care. I guess if you get your jollies trying to get back at your former employees then all this pseudo-intellectual nonsense serves a purpose-otherwise it's just a waste of keystrokes...
