The School Board, at it's October 13 work session, has a plan to improve the schools as follows: Currently, the schools have met only 5 of 30 indicators. The plan is to increase those indicator numbers to 8 in 2008-09; 11 in 2009-10; and 14 in 2010-11. Performance indexes planned are 83, 86.5 and 90 respectively. According to this plan, and at this rate, the schools still won't be half way toward the 30 mark until after the 2011 school year. Is this plan aggressive enough? Doesn't appear to be. Why have all the other school districts surpassed Middletown by a large margin, when all schools have had the same amount of time to implement this program? Why isn't Middletown working harder to catch up? Is this what the taxpayers get for their money performance-wise? And, to add insult to injury, we are paying some of the highest property taxes in Butler County to sponsor this type of pathetic performance. We are buying a Ferrari, but getting the quality of a Yugo.Another disappointment from the schools and the school board.
