Urban Thickets is a full service landscape company and garden center located in Poasttown in the old Score Chrysler Dodge building on Route 4. Our landscape division offers design, installation, and maintenance. We mow grass, mulch, weed, prune, provide leaf removal and snow removal. We also do paver and wall installation. Call us to set up an appointment. Our garden center has much to offer, as well. While we have annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees, we have a lot more. We have pavers, stepping stones, wall block, mulch, top soil, compost, sand, and gravel for the "do it yourselfer". Inside the store you will find tools, such as rakes and shovels, preen, roundup, sevin, etc. We also offer Buckley Bros. feed for horses, chickens, goats, rabbits, and more. We have dog and cat food, kitty litter, and bird seed. We also provide for the hunter: We have deer attractants, such as corn, salt blocks, trophy rock, lucky buck mineral, deer cane, etc. We also will be offering deer feeders and scents, and scent blockers. Stop down and check out our competitively priced selection! Remember to shop local and support the "little guy"! Our address is 6239 Germantown Rd (route 4). Call us at 513.217.1948. We look forward to serving your needs.

Our deer attractants include corn, salt blocks, lucky buck, trophy rock, and several different kind of deer cane, just to mention a few. As for a scope and silencer, you might want to try Roberson's or Thompson's out here in Madison.

Urban Thickets, got a question.
I have ornamental grass planted around the house. Description is thin green with some white stripping running the length of the leaf. Growth height at this time- ~ foot tall. Spreads. Should I trim this down to a shorter length for winter or leave alone? Getting ready to trim the hostas to ground level. Thank you for any advice. |

Vet,
We cut ours down to about an 1/2" or so every year. It growns back beautifully. Ours is about 3' tall now. Pacman |

We tend to leave grasses stand until spring. This provides some winter interest, especially with snow on them. It becomes a personal preference. When you do cut them back, you should cut them to the ground (or a few inches from the ground).

You can start trimming now. Just trim not uproot. If you can not do it right hire a gardener for a month and learn from him at the same time invest in springer scissor and garden soil. maybe some fertilizer organic Happy gardening..
