Won't happen
the golf course has done well over it's existence, and golf courses aren't worth much right now(little demand other than to develop the real estate). Good, dry weather will spark the usage at this wonderful facility. As an occasional golfer who visits many top area courses, I find Weatherwax to be a true gemas a very fine facility, and a tremendous value.
Face it--it won't be sold, and has a MUCH better long-term future than the Sunset Pool.
This is really a weak comparison.
While Sunset has been an area staple forever, and the park has been recently re-done(very well done), the pool requires major long-term maintenence, and usage is far below the past glory years. Sunset needs a huge year to make a strong case for survival. With Keep Middietown Beautiful handling the landscaping (done by recent park board members no longer serving there), the Park Board needs to ramp up a lot of companion special activities for Sunset(and the splash pad locations) to attract more participants and the associated family members to make full use of the facility and surrounding park. The prime neighborhood location should provide a stong residential family base of users.
Come on, Merrell---get something going before it is too late!
No one(well....) wants to see the pool dormant or de-constructed.
Put something together to feed the usage to a new level!
Time for the Park Board to make something happen, because there is no way private donations will continue to sustain Sunset Pool. If you want things to continue, you must add incentive to visit the park during pool hours.

One of Weatherwax’s problems is the cost. They continue to charge $43.00 for a round of golf with a cart. I can go to Franklin and play a smaller course for $27. Or go to Monroe and play for $37. WW is very nice that they have 36 holes. I think they can bring in a lot more golfers if they get below the $40 line. I know they have said they are pretty busy on Saturdays, But Sundays are dead out there. If they were below $40 We would play there instead of Monroe. That’s 4 rounds a week, around 20 rounds a month. Not a lot, But every nickel counts. They need to find a way to make it more competitive, play 5 rounds get one free? If they can bring in a lot more golfers that will cut that $200,000 down.
