This week across the city our Cub Scout Packs are holding recruitment events to sign up new families.
Cub Scouting is a part of the Boy Scouts of America, our country's part of the worldwide Scouting movement. Cub Scouts is open to boys in the first through fifth grades, typically about 6 - 10 years old. In Middletown, there are several options available for Cub Scouting: Pack 1, chartered by First Presbyterian Church Pack 19, chartered by First Baptist Church Pack 85, chartered by the Knights of Columbus Council #1610 Pack 470, chartered by Summit Academy Middletown Pack 800, chartered by the Robert Sonny Hill Community Center If you are interested in joining Cub Scouts and have a school aged Scout in one of the elementary schools in Middletown, a flyer should have or will be going home with your son this week. Generally the schools are recruited by an individual Pack, but families are free to choose to join any Pack they wish. There are also several Boy Scout Troops in Middletown that are always looking to have new young men join them for fun and adventure. Boy Scouting is open to boys aged 11 through their 18th birthday, generally the spring of 5th grade through high school. There are four troops in Middletown: Troop 1, chartered by First Presbyterian Church Troop 18, chartered by First Baptist Church Troop 20, chartered by the Knights of Columbus Council #1610 Troop 572, chartered by Mt. Zion Lutheran Church And if you have a high schooler, male or female, who wants to get in on the adventure of Scouting, there is also the Venturing program. It is the co-ed high adventure "senior scout" program for youth from age 14 through their 21st birthday, generally high school and early college aged. There is one Venturing Crew in Middletown: Crew 1, chartered by First Presbyterian Church If your son didn't get one of the Cub Scout recruitment flyers or you want to know more about any of the Scouting programs in Middletown, please feel free to send me a private message here or at fpcscouts@gmail.com and I can get you information and contact info with the unit of your choice. |
