Journal story...
Butler turns away more veterans seeking aid than any Ohio county Butler County turned away a higher percentage of veterans seeking emergency financial assistance for things such as rent, utilities or groceries than any other county in Ohio last year, an investigation by the Hamilton Journal-News/Middletown Journal found. Less than 1 percent of the estimated 27,000 veterans living in Butler County received emergency aid in 2012 from county taxpayers. Of the 432 times a veteran asked for help, they were turned away nearly 40 percent of the time. Butler County’s Veterans Service Commission spent more money paying its director, assistant director and five appointed commissioners than providing direct financial aid to veterans, the newspaper found. MORE MONEY PAYING IT'S DIRECTOR, ASSIST. DIRECTOR AND 5 COMMISSIONERS.... FIRE ALL OF THEM AND START OVER Dan Biondo, the president of the Butler County Veterans Service Commission, said he “had no idea” the county’s denial rate was abnormally high compared to other counties in the state. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates there are between 1,000 and 2,000 veterans living below the poverty line in Butler County. The county provided aid 223 times last year. “Wow, that’s amazing,” Biondo said. “I feel bad. I guess we are to blame. We need to be more lenient and approve more applications because we have the money to do it.” The commission’s executive director, Curtis McPherson, can deny any application for aid, but the Butler County Veterans Service Commissioners can hear appeals FIRE BIONDO, McPHERSON AND THE REST OF THESE PEOPLE. THEY ARE NOT WORTHY OF SERVICING VETS. ANYONE WHO ADMITS THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE ORGANIZATION THEY ARE IN CHARGE OF NEEDS TO BE TERMINATED. NOW HERE'S THE REAL KICKER.... The bulk of the commission’s budget is spent on salaries and benefits. McPherson got a $4,000 raise from veterans service commissioners and will make $91,420 this year. Each of the five commissioners will collect between $7,000 and $14,000 this year. In Warren County, the director will make $62,504 this year while each commissioner will collect $12,000. GONE. ALL OF THEM. AND THE PEOPLE WHO HIRED THEM SHOULD LEAVE ALSO. INCOMPETENCE IN THE COUNTY GOVERNMENT. THEFT OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS EXHIBITED FROM THESE PEOPLE. THEY ARE CRIMINALS. Biondo called the salaries in the Butler County agency “high” and he fears the agency’s denial rate is deterring some veterans from applying for financial assistance. In 2011, 643 veterans applied for aid. As of July 31, 206 veterans had applied for aid through the agency this year. McPherson said he tries to discourage veterans from relying too much on emergency financial aid fund AGAIN, BOTH NEED TO LEAVE.....NOW. McPherson said his agency is being responsible with taxpayer dollars by setting forth selective guidelines for financial aid. He said the agency is looking into ways to increase some of that aid. “We respect the taxpayer money,” McPherson said BULLCRAP MCPHERSON!. YOU'RE USING THE TAXPAYER DOLLARS TO ADD TO ALREADY HIGH SALARIES WHILE DENYING VETS MONEY FROM THE PROGRAM. AND YOU HAVE THE NERVE TO SAY YOU "RESPECT THE TAXPAYER MONEY"? HORSESH--. TYPICAL GOVERNMENT SCUM. SHOULD BE A PUBLIC HANGING DOWN BY THE COURTHOUSE IN HAMILTON SOON. |

This is disgusting!!! I wholeheartedly agree that these people should either resign or be terminated from these positions. They didn't know that their denial rate was abnormally high? If you're turning down 2 of every 5 people who walk through the door asking for help, you need to reexamine the criteria under which you approve help. It's time to start a program called "No Veteran Left Behind" to help returning service members acclimate to civilian life. These people in a position to help veterans have failed miserably and should be ashamed!!!

The whole office is a disgrace-I went in for help in applying for the Ohio Gulf War Vet Bonus and they acted like I was there to take money out of their pockets. Time for a complete personnel overhaul...

I agree! This agency is a joke! 3 persons in it needs terminated and replaced. This agencies Head Director Curtis McPherson in the Hamilton, Ohio office, Rita Broughton in the Middletown, Ohio office and James the vet rep at the Ohio Employment Office in Fairfeild, Ohio unemployment office.
I went to this agency 3 times and all three times was treated and talked to like I was some low life of the streets, and they talked to ne like I was stupid. Made me feel like dirt. This time around that makes the 3rd time I was denied for not registing my self as a vet at the Ohio Unemployment Office when I know I did, that the Ohio Vet rep straight up and lied saying that I did not, after just less than 3 months ago he stated that I was and did not need to come see him as this agency requires. I am sure with this Curtis McPherson being head director James got his job threatened if he did not lie. If it is the last thing I ever get to do in my life, It will be to see the day that these 3 persons are fired and terminated for being the 3 up most dishonest, disrespectful personnel in my states government that I and many other pays out our taxes to pay to do a job. Mc Pherson on all three occasions laid down really stupid requirements in order for me too qualify for any assistance. I had to register with Ohio Employment Office and their VA rep, that I already did 2 years before I ever needed this agencies help and tried to dictate the law that I had to have insurance on my vehicle that is inoperative, before they would help get it fixed. If I can not afford the basic living needs, how can I afford insurance. They never once offered to help with that. The Butler County Veterans Service Commission is in my eyes the most sorriest agency I have ever seen in my 55 years between here Dallas/ Fort Worth, New York, Indiana and many other places I lived. Paying Curtis Pherson $91,000.00 and something a year, is about $01,000.00 and something way to much. As to the other two mentioned VA employees, because they do not do their jobs of standing by the veteran that they are being paid high dollars to do, and all 3 needs to be terminated and kicked out the door. Truth is truth. |
