The income-tax increase is on the ballot in August is crucial to the Columbus Police Department.
If the tax is voted down, Police Chief Distelzweig says he would be forced to cut 75 detectives, shut down motorcycle and freeway units and pull police from 17 Columbus high schools. Columbus would have 324 fewer police than it has today.
