Remembering Perry Thatcher
Tuesday, February 02, 2010 8:58:03 AM - Middletown Ohio

Perry Thatcher designed The Machine That Made The Clam Shell Box For
McDonalds

Middletown has lost one of its most prominent members of the community. On January 28, 2010 Perry Thatcher passed away on from pancreatic cancer.  Mr. Thatcher gave many things to this city; he always wanted a better Middletown.  Thatcher served four years on Middletown City Council defeating Fred Sennet in the 2001 November election.

Middletown’s Vice Mayor Anita Scott Jones told MiddletownUSA.com “Mr. Thatcher cared about people and this city.” Thatcher left council after one term and according Rich Bevis, manager of Hook Field: he knew quality of life comes not from the city government but, from the people who live and work here.

Thatcher was responsible for inventing the machines that make the packaging boxes for KFC and McDonalds, but he will be remembered most by the people of Middletown for his work in the community.

According to John Beagle CEO of Rent-A-Computer He was a one man economic development machine who worked hard to bring business back to the downtown area.

Mr. Thatcher will be missed, our thoughts and payers gout to his family.

Perry taught me how things get done.

His wisdom, patience and willingness to work with people is what made a tremendous impact in the city of Middletown.

He was the most selfless, giving person I ever met.

I feel a big hole in my heart.
