Airport to get federal funds
Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, announced Thursday that the Middletown Regional Airport has been awarded $320,332 by the U.S. Department of Transportation to realign 1,100 feet of its existing access road.
This project is designed to increase access to the airport and allow for further development.
“This is great news for Butler County,” Brown said. “These improvements will enhance the capacity of Middletown Regional Airport. These federal dollars will go a long way in sustaining travel in and out of the airport for area residents and businesses.”

Now that Brown mentioned it, what is the air traffic for businesses and people in and out of the airport these days? Back in the day, when Armco ran an air operation at it's hanger down the runway from the Germantown Rd. hangers, I imagine the usage was busy as to corporate flights to Houston. Kansas City and other Armco sites. Same with inbound business flights related to Armco and, perhaps, the paper mills that were here. These days, with the lack of any real business activity here, I would imagine air operations have been drastically reduced.

I'm so proud of my hometown and what it has become. Recall 'em all. Let's start over.

I work right by the airfield, and there's pretty steady use here. Given, the skydiving company is up and down constantly when the weather is good.

Last week a couple dozen aircraft landed, parked down at the end of the property near the Warbirds hanger and walked over to Frisch's for lunch.

Federal funds to help develop land near Middletown Regional Airport

MIDDLETOWN —
One of the city’s gateways has landed more than $320,000 in federal funds to allow more economic development opportunities.

Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, announced last week that the Middletown Regional Airport, 1707 Run Way, was awarded $320,332 by the U.S. Department of Transportation to realign 1,100 feet of its existing access road.

The project is designed to increase access to the airport and to allow for further development, he said.

“This is great news for Butler County,” Brown said. “These improvements will enhance the capacity of Middletown Regional Airport. These federal dollars will go a long way in sustaining travel in and out of the airport for area residents and businesses.”

The funds are an important part of the city’s plan to improve the airport and create jobs, said Denise Hamet, Middletown Economic Development Director.

“We are seeing a growing interest in being located at the airport but we need more space,” she said. “Relocation of the runway will open up land to construct more hangars.”

Matt Eisenbraun, the city’s economic development program manager, said this project is the final step of a multi-phase project to make several “shovel ready” sites available for development.

“We will immediately begin to work with interested parties to coordinate the construction of commercial hangers on 5 acres near the terminal as well as ‘T-style’ and ‘community’ hangers on 3.8 acres along Germantown Road,” he said. “We are eager to break ground and take the next step in the development of this tremendous asset.”

Eisenbraun said the city will continue to work with federal and state officials to open an additional 40 acres of property designated for opportunities in the industrial sector of the aviation industry.

The city is working with its airport commission, and outside consultants, to create a long-term growth strategy for the airport.

Middletown was one of the cities involved in the application for the Southwestern Ohio Aerospace Region designation, which “reflects our aerospace focus and interest in growing our aerospace expertise through expansion of our airport facilities, recruitment of new companies, and engaging our higher education resources to develop our aerospace workforce skill set,” said Hamet.

As long as its a state or federal hand-out, Middletown will apply. Dem Brown sure wants those Dem votes for the pork against Governor K. City hall more than happy to exploit.
Heard council is on board and a okay for Doug Adkins to have full authority to be King in Middletown, and give away any and all tax abatements he wants. Pretty desperate move city council. Dora B is no longer pensive.

In 3 years, Doug Adkins fails, just like others. No company would want to deal with a former prosecutor and he can't compete with surrounding areas tax rate, especially for employees, which is what they want to attract the top flight people.

Anyone ever see that 120 page turn around report? I have asked a few friends in city hall leadership, and no one can find out for some reason.

Giving Dougie that kind of power is asking for trouble. You didn't learn from the HUD fiasco? I have never seen such a group that refuses to learn from their mistakes. Pitiful! You want to think things can get better but it isn't, they just keep doing the same stupid stuff!!!!
