Today's Journal....
84-room hotel planned in Middletown near I-75 Hampton Inn coming to Towne Boulevard MIDDLETOWN — The city’s East End looks like it will be home to a new 84-room hotel. Richmond, Ind.-based Kreesh Investments was issued a building permit on June 29 to build a Hampton Inn at 2880 Towne Blvd. The projected four-story hotel is slated to be built next to Walmart and along Interstate 75. “We are pleased to have this new development in the city, especially in light of the current economy where funding is difficult for a project such as this,” said Middletown City Manager Judy Gilleland. YEP, MORE LOW PAYING SERVICE JOBS IS WHAT THIS CITY NEEDS. ROOM SERVICE, KITCHEN HELP, FRONT DESK, HOUSEKEEPING, GROUNDSKEEPER, CABANA, POOL AND TOWEL BOY...ALL IN THE LOWER ECHELON OF PAY AND ARE NOT POSITIONS TO CREATE A DECENT LIFESTYLE NOR FUTURE FOR PEOPLE. PLEASE STOP SHOOTING FOR $6 TO $9/HOUR JOBS AND GET SOME $20 TO $30/HOUR JOBS IN THIS TOWN. AND NOW THE CHUCKLE.... “I think it speaks to the faith that developers have in the Middletown area.” AHH JUDITH, THE NOSE IS GROWING LONGER WITH YOUR LIES.
AND YET ANOTHER CHUCKLE FROM JUDITH.... “Towne Boulevard has a regional draw, first witnessed by the number of restaurants, hotels, motels and retail shopping in the area, in addition to the interstate presence which adds to the draw,” she said YOU BET MS. G, THE PLACE IS BOOMING. HELL, THEY'RE STANDING IN LINE TO START A BUSINESS HERE.....JUST DON'T LOOK ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. LOOKS A LITTLE DESOLATE OVER THAT WAY. The development is “a good sign” for Middletown, said Bill Triick, president of the Chamber of Commerce Serving Middletown, Monroe and Trenton THANKS BILL FOR THE WORDS OF WISDOM. COMING FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, THIS PROPHETIC STATEMENT MEANS ALOT. “I don’t think a company like that makes a decision like this casually,” he said. “It’s a good investment.” UHH, BILL, TIME WILL TELL IF IT WAS A GOOD INVESTMENT. YOU ALSO MAY SEE IT BOARDED UP IN THREE YEARS TOO IF IT FOLLOWS THE TREND IN BUSINESS RETENTION IN THIS TOWN. |

Well 29, I call it as I see it. I don't sugar coat it and don't own rose-colored glasses as some do. It is what it is. The town has gone down the perverbial toilet in many ways. It was a nice town at one time. Since the 70's, it has become a shadow of it's previous self. I am curious as to why you seem to defend the evil-doers (courtesy of George Bush) in all discussion on this forum. You don't see the deterioration of the streets? The town being slowly turned into a ghetto with accompanying crime and low income handouts entering the city? The favoritism with the S. Main St. gang? The debacles with city purchased real estate? The ridiculous "arts theme" to re-activate the downtown? The wasteland mentality being created by the leaders who want to level everything in sight? The lack of econ. development that has occured in town in the last 25 years? Businesses leaving town and none coming in to replace them? You see none of these things happening? You condone this behavior from council and city building people? What are you looking at that the rest of us aren't? |

Middletown29: It’s like this: Even though people like Vet and me read your favorite
book (The Little Engine That Could), long before we reached puberty we came to
realize that the story it told was just a metaphor extolling the virtues of perseverance. As we matured, we learned that just “thinking
we could” without actually THINKING,
and just trying the same old thing over and over would NOT overcome the
immutable laws of physics and get that train up and over the hill. We learned that one had to overcome the
obstacles by applying sound engineering principles such as: adding engines,
reducing the load, or surveying a new route at a lesser gradient. You and the other cheerleaders sitting under a shade tree
drinking wine and yelling at the rest of us to pull harder while you chant: “I think I can … I think I can … I think I
can” just won’t work in the real world. |

As someone said today lets put 25 White Castles out there and we got a plan. Mean while I did run into some folks who have purchased the Lakeside and plan on reno and reopening it this winter. Loved those Frog legs down there.

I could, but I'd rather jab a hot poker in my eye.

In my view, she is just doing her job. I don't buy into much of the hype but it is necessary none the less. I would prefer higher paying jobs but new jobs are better than no jobs.
