| 12/30/2008 2:47:55 PM | harvey poff | | Tonight Middletown plays the Vance High School Cougers for the Junior Orange Bowl Classic Championship. The Vance team is from Charlotte, North Carolina. I watched them play Coral Reef High School of Miami, Florida and they are impressive. They are extremely quick and they love to push the ball up the floor. They are a well disciplined team and always seem to be under control. They will be a great test for the Middies. If Middletown can pull this one off, they will move up, I would think, in the national rankings. I understand that Middletown is currently ranked 97th in the country. So far, so good. Middletown has clearly shown that they have come to Miami to play some great baskeball. | | 12/31/2008 12:43:52 AM | Harvey Poff | | Middletown played well this evening but not well enough to beat Vance High School from North Carolina. Vance jumped out with three 3 pointers and the Middies had to play "catch-up" for the entire game. Middletown came within 5 points in the fourth quarter but couldn't take it any further. Vance High is a talent laden team with depth and a tremendous amount of talent. The Middies stayed in the game and have nothing to be ashamed. They played well and were competing until the end. Being the Runner-up in the Orange Bowl Classic is pretty darn good. Every team represented were exceptional teams with winning traditions. Our kids did quite well and we're very proud of them. |
