To tell you the truth I am not against rating a business, but I find this way of doing it not in the best interest of Middletown. "Just Plain Sucks" encompasses a lot of area, when the only other rating is "Worth the Buck"
If I were a business in Middletown I would not be jumping for joy to find my name on this list even if I got good ratings.
People tend to gravatate toward the negative stuff and some of the comments on the site are just uncalled for. I get excellent service from some of these businesses that have very derogatory comments about them and bad ratings.
A more professional rating system would be much better.
Sorry but this site "JUST PLAIN SUCKS" from a businessmans stand point and as far as bringing up the image of Middletown, it doesn't. |

Thanks for the comment.
The rating system is simple but the site is intended as a quick and lighthearted way for the community to express their feelings and share information on local businesses.
If you read any review site you will see that many times customers have drastically different experiences and offer drastically different reviews. So we disagree with your statement that people tend to gravitate toward the negative. As it stands now the site is showing a 60% favorable rating for the business reviewed there.
We also believe that free speech is very important and although you may feel that some comments are uncalled for we only deny comments for vulgarity, or hate speech. Should you feel that a comment has been posted that is violation of that standard please drop us a line at web@xponex.com
Finally the purpose of the middletownreview.com site is not to “bring up the image” of Middletown. It is a review site and we believe that as the community improves so will the image the site portrays. |

I doubt businesses that get a "Just Plain Sucks" rating would find anything lighthearted about it.
Once again there are ways to do a rating site this is not one of them in my opinion. It does nothing but degrade businesses in Middletown. |

MJ,
After further review we agreed with your comments and have attempted to come up with a slogan that is less offensive. However it is still out goal to keep the site simple and to convey what we believe is the way people talk about businesses. That is not in terms of stars or some 10 point scouring system, but rather a simple recommendation, or the lack there of. If you have any further suggestions we are always interested. Please contact us at web@xponex.com. |

Recently The Middletown Review has changed its rating system to reflect more positively on the businesses. So instead of businesses being "Worth the Buck" or "Just Plain Sucks" it is now "Keep on Buying" or "Not Worth Trying".
Keep up the reviews! |
