Two Girls Fenwick Tennis Players are Player of the Year
Friday, November 14, 2008 10:27:20 AM - Middletown Ohio

By: Tara Kunkle

Two girl’s tennis players made it a tough decision of whether who should win the Middletown Journal’s Player of the Year. Caitlin O’Gara and Maggie Sullivan both got the honor.  Both of the girls are from Fenwick High School and are three-time state doubles competitors.

Caitlin finished 14-3 and played one of her hardest first singles in the state, four of her opponents were state qualifiers. Maggie finished at 16-1. She was no. 2 singles. Fenwick would lose several matches but could always count on Maggie and Caitlin to win one for them.

Both of the girls wanted to finish there high school tennis careers at Fenwick High School as state champions. In 2007 they got third at state so when 2008 came around and they lost in the state quarterfinals it was hard for them to let down.

Maggie and Caitlin were the two team captains both there junior and senior year. Their coach Mary Joseph knew that they would both be great leaders for the team. When they started being the team captains their junior year they did such a good job with the other girls and went on through the senior year.

Both are planning on playing at college level but are undecided where they will be going. They have many offers from different colleges they are interested in.
