ANNOUNCES MARKETING PROMOTION AWARDS
MIDDLETOWN, OHIO----- Your Middletown Convention and Visitors Bureau (MCVB) is moving forward! We are embracing our mission statement’s goal of supporting projects that promote Middletown’s growth by attracting visitors to experience, explore, appreciate our community and to stimulate the economy, highlight the community’s potential, and encourage businesses to locate here. Local hotel and motel bed tax dollars support the services provided by the MCVB. Marketing Promotion Package (MPP) money is taken from the Middletown CVB’s operating budget. The Middletown hotels collect a 3% bed tax on each room rental. A portion of the collected bed tax is channeled through the City of Middletown to the Middletown CVB.
In May, the MCVB Board announced its most recent awards to five Middletown area organizations. Organizations receiving MPP awards for this quarter are: Ohio Balloon Challenge $5,000; Light-Up Middletown $5,000; Bishop Fenwick High School $4,000; Middletown Arts Festival $1,500; PAW-A-PALOOSA-PAWS $1,200.
In the past, the Middletown CVB made awards once a year in early summer to non-profit and for profit groups submitting applications. During 2014 this approach will be changed to a quarterly review of applications for MPP awards (formerly called grants) that are received during that timeframe. This will allow for new events to have an opportunity to apply for a MPP award that quarter.
In the future, the MCVB will continue to finance and support entities and projects that further our mission. We look forward to working with all of our stakeholders to ensure that the entire Middletown community continues toward a prosperous future! “From heads in beds to feet on the street – promoting people, pride, and progress.”
