“The Grinch” character will make appearances at Light Up Middletown on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings during the upcoming week, December 7, 9 and 10. Throughout the holiday season, various characters appear, sometimes unannounced, at Light Up Middletown’s entrance tunnel of lights. Buddy Bear and Santa Claus will also likely be greeting guests on some evenings.
Also expected to make an appearance will be the horse drawn wagon rides on December 20 and 21. Cost for the rides will be $2 for adults and $1 for children.
Admission to the Smith Park site in downtown Middletown is by donation. Donations are used to maintain and add to the displays as well as make improvements to Middletown City Parks. The display is open every evening through New Year’s Eve, December 31, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. regardless of the weather. Light Up is open all holidays during the season.
The first week of Light Up Middletown 2003 attracted a total of 12,620 guests in 3,747 vehicles including three buses. Tuesday evening, December 2, attracted 748 vehicles and 2,419 visitors to Light Up Middletown, many of whom also visited the annual Christmas Balloon Glow held in the same Smith Park location for the first time.
