Middletown Division of Fire
The Middletown Division of Fire has recently assisted in the recovery effort from Super Storm Sandy. Lieutenant David Vonbargen has responded to needed aid in New York with the Butler County EMA’s IMAT Team. This is a 10-member team made up of personnel from area Butler County Fire Departments that assist in the Incident Management aspect of the recovery effort. At last communication the team had reported to and is stationed in Brooklyn, New York.
The Division of Fire was able to take advantage of one of the structures scheduled for demolition to do training exercises from October 23-25. A house at 710 16th Avenue was the site at which fire crews practiced roof ventilation procedures where firefighters worked to cut holes in the roof, a procedure done to get fire and smoke out of a structure so interior fire attack crews and search and rescue operations can be accomplished.
