With three weeks to go until the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year, the combined 3-year $6.07 million levy is going to the polls again. The levy failed in May this year, prompting threats of bare minimum schools funding, with no bussing, no funding for extracurriculars, 100 teachers laid off, state minimum school hours, and more.
Should the levy pass tomorrow, all of these cuts will be reversed. The current $6.07 million figure is down from $1.5 million on the May levy. If the levy passes, the owner of a $100,000 home would see his yearly taxes raised $67. If no tax issues are approved this year, those homeowners would see a decrease in their taxes of about $115.
