City planning commission recommends that city council approve a proposal to build a self-storage facility on South Main Street, in what is classified as a retail district under official Middletown zoning laws. Normally, self-storage facilities, which fall under the warehousing category, would not be allowed to be built in these areas, thus the need for approval from city council.
Laura Williams doesn't see any possible benefit that this facility could bring to the area, and it is unclear whether the proposal will pass.
