MIDDLETOWN PET EXPO SET FOR APRIL 2
Families and their pets are invited to the first annual Middletown Pet Expo scheduled for April 2, 2005, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. The City of Middletown Police Department event is sponsored by Iams Pet Food Company of Lewisburg, Ohio. The purpose of the expo is to promote responsible pet ownership and child animal safety along with an awareness of the growing problems of stray dogs and cats.
There will be continuous activities throughout the day to entertain and educate.
Midwest Bloodhound Rescue will demonstrate search and rescue operations using dogs.
Middletown’s Dog Training Center will demonstrate agility and obedience exercises.
Professionals from the Humane Society will offer microchipping services on site. Microchipping is the imbedding of a microchip under the pet’s skin to serve as a means of identification if the pet is ever lost.
Adoptable animals will be available from the Humane Society and PAWS.
The Butler County Dog Warden will sell dog licenses for $14 each.
Representatives from Barking Buddies Therapy Dogs and Safe Kids/Safe Dogs will share information about their services and Middletown K-9 units will perform demonstrations.
A professional pet photographer will offer photo services of pets and the family dog can have a canine massage for $15.
Food concessions will be provided by the Middletown City Employees Association
Humans and pets alike will enjoy the event. Besides the information and entertaining elements for humans, the family pet will also have activities—a canine good citizen test, an obstacle course and dunking for tennis balls.
