There's a new port authority in town and it's in Warren County. Its first project a low-interest financing for the east end YMCA.
The Warren County Port Authority is a political subdivision of formed by Warren County under section 4582 of the Ohio Revised Code.
Why the Y?
When you think of port authority you think of a water port or an airport. But there are other duties that can be delegated by local governments including general landlord functions such as owning rail lines, buildings, stadiums,industrial parks, even the YMCA.
The Kimm Coyner, Warren County Economic Development Director is assigned by the Commissioners to serve as unpaid staff to the Port.
"This makes me the Executive Director of the Warren County Port which is a part-time endeavor," said Kimm Coyner. "We do not yet have a mission statement or priority areas for the Port. Part of the work to be done by the Port Board is to establish policies and procedures that direct the Port in its activities. Right now, the Port is guided by the goal of assisting development projects within Warren County."
