FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Monroe, OH. The Monroe Business Council Scholarship Committee has announced the first winner of its planned annual College Scholarship. Kim Neu, a senior at Monroe High School and National Honor Society Member, will receive a $1000 check from Committee Chair John Beagle at a special ceremony in the high school auditorium May 30 at 8:00 am. Kim sustained an accumulated 4.168 GPA. She is the daughter of David Neu and is a native of Monroe. She will attend Ohio State University in the fall 2002. Her career goal is to become a surgeon. The Committee was established in December, 2001 by the Monroe Business Council. It is funded by Monroe-area businesses and individuals. The selection process began in January, 2002 and was based on five criteria related to scholastic achievement, community service and the completion of an essay. All Monroe High School Seniors are eligible for future scholarship awards. Enthusiasm for the program within the local community has assured that three or more scholarships will be offered for the 2003-4 college year. Interested individuals and business owners are invited to participate as sponsors in any amount. Contributions are fully tax deductible, and 100% of donations are used for scholarship awards.
