Middletown's Mangy Mutt Dog Wash Holds Grand Opening August 8, 2009

Interview and Pictures By: Randy Lewis

How many employees do you have?

We currently have 7 employees from the Middletown area.

When did you open and what type of services do you provide?
Our soft opening was July 15Th, and are grand opening will be Aug 8 at 11 am
we provide a self service dog wash with 4 sanitized, temperature controlled, high pressure, elevated, non-slip tubs, full scale professional grooming, and dirty dog pickup and delivery service.

How do you feel about your location on Elliot drive?
Our locations is perfect, Elliott drive is full of successful business and we our proud to be one of them.

You also have a do-it-yourself service, what exactly is that and does it offer all the same service as full service?
Self- service is for customers that would like to bond even more with their beloved pets, we provide 4 elevated, sanitized, high-pressure, temperature controlled, non-slip tubs, 4 different shampoos, towels, professional grooming dryers, waterproof aprons for the customer, then also de-shedding shampoos and conditioner and de-skunking shampoos. the full scale grooming side involves a bigger process with specific breed cuts and specialty shampoos and conditioners and all the while in the care of a professional groomer, we do not cage dry, we like our groomers to hand dry so the dryer can spread the coat letting the groomer see any skin irritations or parasites while drying your pet.

Can you explain the style of the tubs you use, what makes them so unique?
We had our tubs specifically made for your pets, they are hand-made in Eugene, Oregon, by Tom Smith fiberglass, they have large walk-in openings so you don't have to lift a large pet, and drop in trays for small pets, both have leash tie-downs so a wet pet doesn't run all over wet, they have Moen shower faucets, our spray nozzles have 9 different spraying options so the customer can select the desired effect for their pet

Mangy Mutt's specifically Made Bath Tubs

You offer a dirty dog pick up, how far are you willing to travel and how much more does this service cost?

Our dirty dog pickup and delivery service is mainly for our customers that don't have the time or cannot get out regularly, we would like to start catering to retirement communities because we know how important their pets are to them and they know we treat them with the same love.

Mangy Mutt has a treatment that is relatively new to the industry known as a FURminator Shed-Less treatment, Can you tell our readers how it works?
Our furminator shed-less treatments are designed for long and short hair pets, within 1 to 2 treatments the furminator has been proven to reduce shedding up to 90%, come into the mangy mutt to learn more.

Why did you choose to locate in Middletown?
We love middletown, we support Middletown, we hired all local contractors and employees, we want to help create local jobs, and we are very excited to be involved in the growth process.
