CITY OF MIDDLETOWN FINANCE OFFICE WINS 22ND CONSECUTIVE AWARD
City of Middletown Finance Director Russ Carolus and his staff have carried on the long-standing tradition of winning an Excellence in Financial Reporting Certificate for 2007.
According to Carolus, “Even though it’s my name on the award, it belongs to every person in the Finance Department, especially Joyce O’Connor, our Budget Analyst, who puts the annual report together.”
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has been awarding the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting since 1945. The program encourages and assists state and local governments to go beyond minimum requirements of reporting to provide comprehensive annual reports with transparency and full disclosure. The award recognizes those who succeed in achieving that goal.
Submitted financial reports are carefully screened by finance professionals such as auditors, academics and others in public-sector financial reporting.
Middletown City was one of 319 such awards in the entire state of Ohio which ranked 3rd in the national for the number of entities achieving the Certificate in 2007 for financial reports from 2006.
