MIDDLETOWN CVB EVENT MANAGERS MEETING SET

Middletown area event, performance and attraction managers and those interested in local entertainment offerings are invited to attend a meeting on Tuesday, March 15, 2005,  4-6 pm, in the Police Training Room, lower level Middletown City Building, One Donham Plaza.

Middletown Convention and Visitors Bureau sponsors the periodic meetings which are free and open to the public to bring together those who provide the entertainment component of the Middletown community to discuss issues of mutual concern and find ways to work together to make the local entertainment product even better.

Local realtor John Sawyer leads the meetings. Chamber president Bill Triick will report from a subcommittee on joint promotion issues and Maria Langendorf, City representative to the CVB, will present ideas for a wants/needs service and welcome packets for new residents.

In response to a request from the community, the second half of the meeting will be a presentation by several local experts on how to stage a festival.

Ed Dobrozsi, Dobrozsi Insurance, and Bill Becker, Acting Middletown City Manager, will offer suggestions on how to set up the grounds for a festival. They have jointly developed a very workable plan for the annual Fenwick Festival.

Dick Mort, retired financial controller, and Ed Dobrozsi have developed a cash management system used at  All American Weekend, Fenwick Festival, Light Up Middletown and Ohio Challenge Hot Air Balloon Festival. They will discuss how to control cash and manage collections at a festival.

City employees, Ginger Smith, Director of Public Works, and Asst. Chief Mark Hoffman, Middletown Police Department, will discuss how the city can help in providing services, directional signage, traffic control, etc.

Kathy Venturella, Chamber of Commerce serving Middletown, Monroe and Trenton,  manages Ohio Challenge Hot Air Balloon Festival, Chamber Business Expo and Chamber Golf Outing. She cannot be present at the meeting but has offered to meet individually with anyone interested in how best to organize a committee or schedule activities. She can be reached at  513-422-4551 kathy@thechamberofcommerce.org

For information about the meeting call or email the CVB office 513-422-3030  info@visitMiddletown.org
