Middletown City Managers Weekly Update to Council June 7, 2009
Friday, June 12, 2009 10:48:55 AM - Middletown Ohio
2010 Budget Schedule
We are beginning budget prep for next year’s budget.  Staff begins work on June 30,
the Council Finance Sub‐Committee(also open to the public) reviewwill begin in early
October.  As usual, we plan on passing the budget on the first meeting in
December as an emergency.Revenues are not looking pretty,
but we are much better off than some of our neighbors.

2010 Tax Budget
You will see from Russ’ memo that the Tax Budget is on the agenda for the next
Council meeting. This is the estimate that we put together for the County so that
we can receive our tax disbursements.
This budget estimate is void of any significant work on expenses and revenues;
that will come in the next few months as we prepare our budget.
The tax budget shows our shortfall of general fund revenues being at $2.1 Million.
Again, this figure is an early estimate that will improve once we begin the
budget process.

Railroad Crossings
At their request, we are talking with the one of our railroad companies about closure
of some RR crossings to improve safety.  In addition, we met with the
Ohio Rail Commission about continuing to work with our two railroad companies
in town to improve the appearanc and performance of the RR crossings around town.
We are seeing great progress in the crossings.
Once the railroad presents their proposal to us, we will discuss with city council.

Dublin House to receive $1.8M in Stimulus Funds
The Dublin House on Central Avenue serves low income seniors and
disabled individuals.  With the stim funds, they will be making significant
improvements to the interior and exterior of the facility.
From the exterior, we will see new windows, a new roof, a new awning, trees and
landscaping.   While this facility is not run by the city, we are always pleased to see
the improvements in the city.
