Tuesday, June 16, 2009 11:27:08 AM - Middletown Ohio |
Every year Middletown holds its annual Blues and Bikes festival at Smith Park. Blues and Bikes is a festival celebrating an interest in motorcycles and blues music. There are many different activities to partake in at the Blues and Bikes festival. A motorcycle contest includes eight classes to be judged and some bikes can be entered in more than one class. Another event is an 80 +/- mile motorcycle ride which will cost $20 per bike with passengers riding for free. The festival offers many different food stands, vendor booths, beer, and even a raffle give-a-way with prizes including a gas grill and a fender guitar.
But the real highlight of Blues and Bikes is the blues concert. The concert is free and open to the public with the music starting at 3:30 pm. Blues and Bikes has featured renown blues artists from the region as well as local artists like Scotty Brachter and Gregg Clark. This year's blues concert will feature Michael Locke and The Repeat Offenders, Cheryl Renee and Them Bones, BJ Stahl, The Sonny Moorman Group and Scotty Brachter.
This year's Blues and Bikes festival promises to be a day full of fun and, of course, blues and bikes. The festivities are on Saturday June 20, 2009 at Smith Park. Ride registration starts at 10:00 am. For all the details on the festival or to sign up for the ride or the contest, visit the Blues and Bikes Website.
