Middletown Beautification and Memorial Tree Program
Tuesday, October 9, 2007 12:07:16 PM - Middletown Ohio

by Tereas Jones

Individuals or organizations are now able to make donations of any
amount to the City to be used for beautification/landscape projects. All
donations will be handled through the City’s Finance Department and
will be maintained in a separate account. A written acknowledgment will
be issued from the City’s Public Works Department.

Tree Planting
A minimum donation of $300 is required to have a tree planted. Trees
will be 1/12” – 2” caliper and must be selected from the list of approved
species. (memorial tree planting selections)

Park Location
The specific location of each tree will be determined by the
Parks Division of the Department of Public Works.

Warranty
The City will warrant the tree for five years. The tree will receive reasonable care and
attention. Special efforts or costs to maintain the tree will be left to the
judgment of the Park’s Division Horticultural staff. To help ensure the
health and success of the trees, they will be planted only during the
spring and fall, when weather permits and according to the Park Division
schedule. The City or their designee must install all trees. No guarantee
can be made that the tree will not be moved or replaced.

Granite Plaque Option
An additional $200 donation is required if a plaque is to be installed. The
granite plaque is 4” x 8” inscribed with “Planting in Memory of” or
Planting in Honor of” followed by the person’s first name, middle initial
and last name. There is a limit of one plaque per person being honored or
memorialized. Plaques are installed in the mulch area beneath the tree.
The City or their designee must install all plaques. No additional plantings or decorations will be permitted at memorial sites.
