Middies Basketball - Hot in the Winter of 2009
Wednesday, January 28, 2009 4:33:57 PM - Middletown Ohio

Story By: Zack Duncan

The Middletown Middies varsity boy's basketball team is having a fantastic season this year and could go on to far greater things.

This year's team is anything short of accomplished. They started the season strong and have yet to run out of steam. The Middies host a season record of 11 wins and 1 loss. They just capped off their fifth straight win when they defeated their Hamilton High School Big Blue rivals in a 64-37 conference win last Friday night to increase their still undefeated GMC record to 7 wins and 0 losses.

Just how excited are fans of Middie basketball? Fans are excited enough to sell out the Hamilton-Middletown game last Friday and enough to pre-sell out for the most anticipated game of the season, the match up between Middletown and Princeton. The game, originally scheduled for tonight, 1-27-09, was rescheduled due to the inclement weather. It promises to be more than any old high school game however. There are a total of four to five division 1 signees playing in that game: Middletown's Allen Roberts already signed with Miami University, as did Princeton's Orlando Williams. Jordan Sibert and Marquis Horne have committed to Ohio State and Ohio University while Middletown's Bill Edwards and Tony Peters are also D-1 recruits.

This game will do a lot for one of the two teams. The winner will hold the edge for the Greater Miami Conference title, take the top spot in the Cincinnati area coach's poll, and will likely receive the number 1 seed in the Division 1 sectional tournament.

Needless to say big things are going to happen for the Middies this season and, to add a cheesy cliché, the fan's anticipation is so thick you could cut it with a knife.

Sorry Mr.Duncan Middletown plays in the GMC(Greater Miami Conference), not the SWBL(Slow White Boy League).
