Many housing markets are continuing to drop. There is one real estate firm that is now reporting a banner year. The locally owned Coldwell Banker Oyer has sold more homes in 2008 than 2007. The firm was also ranked No. 10 in the nation for sales in the size category by Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC.
In 2008 Coldwell sold 514 homes and in 2007 only sold 494 homes. Coldwell has an advantage to selling homes since they are based in Middletown. Since they are in Middletown it gives them access to the Cincinnati and Dayton real estate. Ohio has been continuing to get hit by the housing slump.
In the month of January the homes sales dropped 26.8 percent compared to figures from December according to the Ohio Association of Realtors. In Cincinnati the closest city the association tracks sales were off by nearly 20 percent. There were only 909 units that were sold in January.
Things are looking even better for 2009. With the city’s $6,000 down-payment assistance and the new $8,000 federal stimulus package tax credit for first-time home buyers. Along with many other business Coldwell has tightened its budget.
