Important Meeting Regarding The 3-C High Speed Rail Workshop
Thursday, July 2, 2009 5:00:34 PM - Middletown Ohio

Dear OKI ICC and Board of Directors members and alternates,

We wish to inform you of an upcoming public meeting to be held regarding the
3C Corridor.

Please RSVP via e-mail to: HSR.planning@dot.state.oh.us as directed at the
bottom of the message.

ORDC Cordially Invites You to:

Cleveland-Columbus-Cincinnati The 3-C High Speed Rail Workshop
Tuesday, July 7th, 12:30 -  4:30 P.M.

(Registration begins at 12:00 PM; no lunch will be provided)
The Fawcett Conference Center 2400 Olentangy River Rd. (off State Route 315)
Columbus, Ohio 43210
www.fawcettcenter.com

Convenient, comfortable and reliable passenger rail service between Ohio's
cities and towns is no longer a distant fantasy. The Ohio Rail Development
Commission (ORDC) and the Ohio Department of Transportation, along with
Amtrak, are currently working to introduce start-up passenger rail service
in Ohio's Cleveland-Columbus-Cincinnati (3C) corridor.

This service (at up to 79 mph) is a first step in implementing the
longer-term vision for a network of high speed trains operating at 110 mph
on routes serving other Ohio destinations, the Midwest and the Nation.

Where should the trains go? Where should they stop? How should passengers
get to and from the trains and local destinations? What are the best
opportunities to move people, create jobs, stimulate the economy and serve
our core communities? What are the benefits of such an investment? What are
the issues of concern and potential opportunities?

The Ohio Rail Development Commission will answer these questions only after
first hearing from you: the local officials and business leaders from the
numerous communities located along the 30-plus different route alternatives
between Ohio's three largest cities.

Please join ORDC on Tuesday, July 7th and let us know what you think about:

* The proposed high speed passenger rail vision for Ohio.
* Your community's desired outcomes, ideas and concerns
* Lessons learned from intercity passenger rail in other states and
communities, both rural and urban.

Your feedback is needed to help guide the ORDC as it examines high speed
rail alternatives. It is important that your community and your organization
send representatives to learn more about this initiative so that your area
can be part of this early planning opportunity.

Please RSVP via e-mail to: HSR.planning@dot.state.oh.us

I am excited to hear about the 3-C High Speed Rail system in the works. There is no doubt that it would be a wonderful asset for Middletown and the surrounding area. I am a little surprised that Mason, and/or Kings Island is not a stop according to the map. It would be helpful to have top area attractions like the zoo and Kings Island included. In any case, I look forward to seeing this project come to life.

Middletown will need to address the problem of more train horns within city limits. We have a big enough problem at the current time with trains making so much noise that we can't sleep.
