CERTIFICATION!
The deadline for filing objections to the NLRB representation election passed at 5:00 p.m. yesterday. No objections were filed. NOW IT IS FINAL AND OFFICIAL. TODAY THE NLRB CERTIFIED THE IAM AS OUR COLLECTIVE BARGAINING REPRESENTATIVE.
NEW PICKET COMMITTEE
David French, Gary Parks, Jeff Baker, and Tad Cope have accepted appointment as the new Picket Committee Co-Chairmen. David is a Cold Strip Mill employee with 6 years of service with the Company. Gary is a Cold Strip Mill Maintenance employee with 32 years of service with the Company. Jeff is a Slab Mill Maintenance employee (and Union Crane Safety Coordinator) with 21 years of service with the Company. Tad is a Transportation Department with 17 years of service with the Company. David, Gary, and Jeff will spearhead revitalization of our picket lines and administration of IAM Defense Fund benefits. We thank David, Gary, and Jeff for accepting these important responsibilities, and encourage all of our members to offer them all necessary support and assistance.
In this regard, today a letter has been mailed to all members outlining our new picket duty scheduling procedures and requirements for Defense Fund benefits eligibility. The first step is to sign up in person for picket duty at the Union Hall during normal business hours (7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.). If you have not already done so, please stop by the Union Hall and sign up. Picket assignments will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.
NEW ELECTION COMMITTEE
Dan Lawwill has accepted appointment as the new Election Committee Chairman, and Mark Bowen has accepted appointment as the new Election Committee Vice-Chairman. Dan is an Energy and Utilities Department employee with 7 years of service with the Company. Mark is a Cold Strip Mill employee with 29 years of service with the Company. Dan and Mark will spearhead the transition of our current election procedures to those of the IAM as called for in our Transition Agreement. We thank Dan and Mark for accepting this important responsibility, and encourage all of our members to offer them all necessary support and assistance.
